Introducing the Chiropractors at Synergy Chiropractic

Dr. Jamie Ornburn
"I love the skeptics!" Dr. Jamie states. "Nothing is more satisfying than having someone come into our office who initially really doesn't want to be there, but doesn't know what else to try. By the end of their treatment they are telling all of their friends and family members about chiropractic care and wish that they would have had the know how to utilize chiropractic care as their first alternative, rather than their last resort."
Dr. Jamie recounts, "I remember my first day of chiropractic school. It seemed like every student had an awe inspiring story as to why they were there, pursuing their dream to become a chiropractor. For me it was different. I didn't have a grandparent, parent or sibling who was in the field, nor had I had the pleasure of being helped by chiropractic care. In fact, prior to entering chiropractic school, I had not even been exposed to being a chiropractic patient. What I did know however, was that I trusted my body to innately know how to heal itself, and that is why I am here doing what I do today. With chiropractic care, I can give my patients the knowledge that they need to live a healthy, pain free life."
My chiropractic experience began in Chesterfield, MO at Logan College of Chiropractic. I chose Logan because it is one of the most respected chiropractic schools in the country and it offers a wide variety of classes and techniques taught by nationally recognized faculty.
I was definitely surprised by how in depth the education was at Logan. What a shock to go from a mere 15-18 credit hours per semester at Indiana University, to 30+ hours per trimester all year round at Logan!
While there were several classes, such as biochemistry, neuroanotomy and diagnostic imaging that kept me up late studying, there were also courses that really resonated with me and caused that "light bulb" moment. One such case was in my neuromusculoskeletal class. This is when I realized that chiropractic not only works on a biomechanical level affecting the skeletal system, but also on a neurological level really helping to improve the overall function of the body. It was exciting for me to know that I was not only going to be able to help people move better, but I was also going to be able to help them feel better in the process.

My initial involvement with chiropractic care did not come about because I was seeking it, but rather chiropractic sought me. Let me explain: like a lot of you out there, you do not seek care unless you are in pain.
Since I was not having any symptoms, I never thought to seek chiropractic care. At the time I was a licensed massage therapist operating my own office. I encountered countless clients who I would repeatedly see for the same problem. I was able to provide them with temporary relief, but I started to feel like that was not enough. Something was missing.
It was right about this time that my brother was finishing up his education at Logan College of Chiropractic. Through talking with my brother, it gave me the resources to really understand how to get better and STAY better: Chiropractic.
It was a no-brainer decision for me when it came to choosing where I would receive my chiropractic degree. Having had the opportunity to experience Logan second hand through my brother, who also attended the St. Louis area university, it made the choice clear.
Throughout my time at Logan, many great friendships were made and from them memories that I will forever cherish. The memories that I am not particularly fond of are those that remind me of the long days in class, late nights studying, and cramming for the National Boards.Let's just say that it was definitely worth it, but I am glad those days are over! At times I found the curriculum especially challenging. Some of these challenging times arose while working through the coursework in biochemistry and neuroanatomy. One of the most rewarding classes to me was gross anatomy. There is something about being able to actually see and feel how we function at the most intrinsic level that is simply amazing. Being able to witness how vital our nervous system is to the overall health of the rest of our body was the most inspiring aspect of the class and really set the stage for the rest of my learning at Logan.

At our office, we want the patient to feel comfortable, but also know that they are going to be getting personalized care from a doctor who genuinely cares about their health and well being. We follow a modified "Golden Rule" when it comes to treating our patients: Do unto others as you would have others do unto your family, because we know that you are a someone's mother, brother, aunt or grandparent.
With a husband and wife duo, we have a special dynamic at the office. Whether you are an athlete who would like to have more mobility and endurance, a female who is struggling with weight or hormonal imbalances, a grandparent who wants to chase after his or her grandchildren without missing a beat, or a factory worker who can't seem to give his body a break, there is someone at our office who can address your needs! It is both challenging and refreshing to us as chiropractors to treat extensive assortments of health issues and concerns.
As you might have guessed, Drs. Aaron and Jamie Ornburn met during chiropractic school in St. Louis and have been married since June of 2008. Making their home in Florence Kentucky, they enjoy the wide variety of activities that the Northern Kentucky area has to offer; from mountain biking at Idewild park, enjoying a concert at Riverbend Music Center, catching a Cincinnati Red's game, or golfing at one of the many beautiful courses nearby.
A lot of times our patients will ask us, "Dr. Ornburn, how often do you get adjusted?" One of the advantages of being married to a chiropractor is that we can get adjusted whenever we want, but on average once a week is usually the case.
Since we do spend a lot of time at the office, it is very important to us to optimize our time away from the office as well. That means being good to our bodies so that we can keep doing this for a very long time!
Dr. Aaron and Jamie both enjoy being outdoors as much as possible, and try to implement this into their workout routines. Dr. Jamie enjoys mountain biking, yoga, Pilates, and taking their dogs Dodger and Duke for walks. Golf, tennis, and disc golf keep Dr. Aaron busy as well.
You aren't going to find processed food at the Ornburn house, and you also won't see prescription medication or over the counter pain medication laying around either. At home Dr. Aaron and Jamie implement a wide variety of fresh organic fruits and vegetables into their diets as well as Standard Process supplements to help their bodies stay strong.
